We did it again! Just like last year, we spent a day at the 2012 Arizona Renaissance Festival, one of the highlights of Florence (the other “highlights” of Florence are the prisons). This time around though, I think we may have been more entertained watching the… er, interesting characters there.
Interesting characters leering down at the… other interesting characters coming through the entrance.
Queen Catherine (how did she get this job?!)
Balloon eater…
Axe throw master
He probably won’t make it as a lumber jack…
I had the advantage in the ninja star throw… Can you guess what it was?
He gave me an honorary knighthood certificate (it should’ve been a ninja-hood).
Being told he needs to do more housework! I’d like to see a husband who doesn’t need to do more housework…
We watched the first jousting tournament:
Look at those glossy, chestnut brown locks… the horse is pretty too.
The evil knight… who happened to be the knight we were cheering on. Victory by any means!
This guy cheated. Apparently he too follows the motto of ‘victory by any means’. It’s a pretty good motto.
Missed!
Boo-hoo
Oh my gosh. Do you think he’s okay?
Apparently she is a fashion consultant…
Yes, we visited the petting zoo again:
We tried to feed the babies but the older sheep kept nudging it out of the way!
One of Mother Goose’s flock.
I think we were more scared than she was.
I don’t think they were part of the festival…
Her legs go on forever!
Budlight Knight, probably imbibed in too much before noon… He must really like Budlight.
Well, props to him for creativity at least.
I love all the costumes the females are wearing! So detailed and ornate.
Are you naturally tanned by the way? I love your skin tone. I’m sooo pale.
Yes, I’m always tan but being out here in the Arizona sun makes me even darker! And I have pretty awful shorts tan lines almost all year round. LOL
Looks like y’all had a great time, JC! Did you get to eat any large turkey legs?!
Not this time! I wanted to try a bunch of other things instead of the turkey leg since 1 turkey leg would make me super stuffed! it was tempting though!
Wow! This pics are amazing…such rich and warm colors. Glad you had a good time!
These events that you go to always look like so much fun. I think it’s so great that you go out and experience this.
BTW, I think that’s a woman walking behind you…either that or that man has nicely painted pink fingernails. =P
This the first time I’ve been to the renfest, & I got to be a nursemaid & wear a costume! The festival was amazing! I was most impressed with the participants, their kindness, friendliness, & helpfulness. Even the patrons seemed to go back to a more gentle time, mimicking the courtesy of the participants. Your photos are beautiful; thanks for sharing. BTW, I believe the festival is in Apache Junction, not Florence. See you next year, for the 25th anniversary of the Arizona Renaissance Festival!
Hey there! Thanks for a great picture. In your first photo, I’m the guy on the right in the black hat. I’m “Will Fraser, the Spice Merchant”. Dennis Burns is on the left. He plays the Lord High Sheriff of the shire. Feel free to send me any more you have and I’ll get them to our performers. Most of us are constantly adding to our portfolios. I just retired from the Army so now I need photos of myself with a beard, etc. Thanks again!
