Fort Clatsop

Fort Clatsop was the final encampment of the Lewis and Clark Expedition during the winter of 1805-1806. It is located at the mouth of the Columbia River in Oregon. The 33 members of the Corps of Discovery were there from December 23rd to March 23rd & apparently they were not used to all that rain because they noted that those 3 months were some of their most miserable!

Well…. we enjoyed our visit…..

Oregon Coast, Battle Rock

West Coast Road Trip Part 2 (View Part 1, Part 3)

The drive along the Oregon Coast is absolutely beautiful.  Very scarce of people and towns but absolutely breathtaking. When we neared Gold Beach, we passed along an area that we HAD to pull into.

Battle Rock is about 45 minutes away from Gold Beach. We arrived at the TuTuTun Lodge as the front desk was near closing.  We actually gave them a ring to make sure we could still get into our room.  If you’re looking for tranquility, the TuTuTun Lodge definitely has it.

In the evening when the lights are on around the grounds of the lodge, I’m reminded of a place that would be found in the fairytale woods.

We had dinner at Spinner’s Restaurant & had excellent seafood.

West Coast Road Trip, Sea Lion Caves

West Coast Road Trip Part 1 (View Part 2, Part 3)

Today is day 1 of our first road trip together! The drive out of Washington was easy enough… except for a certain part where I was driving & the road got a little too windy for my comfort so I had to hand the wheel back over to husband.

Our first sight seeing spot was the Sea Lion Cave in Florence, OR!
