This weekend, I kind of kidnapped husband for a mini getaway to the Grand Canyon. It was just what we needed –a chance to relax & see new sights!
Saturday’s first stop was at Bearizona Wildlife Park in Williams, which had been on my our Arizona To Do list for some time.

We missed the ocean and wanted to get away from the heat so we hopped in my car and headed for a quick weekend trip to San Diego! Our first stop in San Diego –La Jolla Beach!
It was cold, windy, and foggy but that doesn’t stop the surfers from catching waves!
Or the seagulls from looking for scraps.
Or us from taking off our shoes. And wading in the freezing cold water.
Our ultimate destination though is Sea World! So the next morning after breakfast, that was just where we headed!
Breakfast at our hotel, the Sheraton in La Jolla.
Beluga whale
He looks s cuddly… I suspect it’s just a ruse to get you to come closer… and then he will probably eat your face.
Walrus
From the Blue Horizons show:
Our favorite show was the Clyde & Seymore show:
OP Otter waving goodbye
One of my favorite exhibits, the sharks!
My husband’s favorite, the penguin exhibit!

No visit is complete without a visit to a zoo! At least in my books anyway. Sometimes I think I went to college for the wrong thing & should’ve been a zoologist.
Anyways, we spent the day sweating out the heat & humidity by exploring the National Zoo –free of charge!
“Hey sweet cheeks.”
One of our favorite places to visit in Tucson is the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. We’re supporting members & like to visit once every 2-3 months, mostly to see if the raccoon is doing something adorable like washing rocks.
Husband’s parents & brother visited over the Memorial Day weekend & one of the places we showed them was of course the ASDM!
The raccoon was up & about but this time he was in the water clanking around with a metal bowl!
Saturday called for a visit to the Phoenix Zoo! Here are a couple of the animal exhibits we saw:
Every year Tucson has a Family Festival at Reid Park in which Reid Park Zoo has free admission and businesses gather together with food, games and promotions for the locals. I did some photography that day as part of a promotion & before I left for the day, a buddy & I couldn’t resist stopping at the zoo.
On a visit to my brother’s graduation in Texas, my family & I spend a morning at Sea World San Antonio!
My older brother is leaving for basic training at the end of the month so to get in some last minute family time, we had an excursion to Eatonville, where we rode the tram tour through Northwest Trek.
