Arizona to Utah Road Trip

Part 1 of Utah Road Trip (View Part 2, Part 3)

I’m not entirely sure who came up with the brilliant idea of packing 12 people, none of whom are local to Arizona, into 2 rental cars & road tripping up to Southern Utah but that’s just what we did in 4 days. And by we, I mean: 6 from China, 1 from Saudi Arabia, 3 from rainy Washington State, 1 from Poland and myself (from all over).

What could go wrong?

Here is our trip from Southern Arizona to Sedona, to the Grand Canyon to Zion to St. George and back.

We woke up at the butt-crack of dawn (at least for us youngins anyway) & decided to start off the trip with breakfast at…. McDonalds! Hey, it was the only thing open other than the gas stations. McDonalds wins over gas station food every time!

See Tracy in the background? It’s too early for him. Michael (far right), on the other hand, I think he is praying that he won’t get the poops on the road from having McDonald’s for breakfast….

Option 1: Going Hungry. Option 2: Eating McDonalds and possibly getting the poops on the road.. in a car full of people. Shoot me now?

Leonids road trip drinking coffee
We ate on the road. And because it was so early (for us youngins anyway), the driver in car #1 was downing the coffee.

Abdul sleeping on road trip
Abdul on the other hand, just passed out. Whether from waking up so early or from eating McDonalds… I’m not sure.

Most people slept at different intervals until we got to Sedona. None of us had ever been there and hadn’t really planned out what we were going to do in Sedona so we just pulled off at the visitor center, used the rest rooms, browsed the visitor shop & stretched our legs on whatever path we found.

I guess that path we found was Bunkhouse Trail…. This is Nate, keeled over at the trailhead from the McDonald’s he ate.

Or this may have been his way of saying that the McDonalds for breakfast left him too weak to walk on his own…

Honestly we weren’t sure where we were going so we just decided to head back to the car & continue on with our road trip.

We made it to the Grand Canyon!

These pictures do not do it justice at all! But to make up for that, here are some goofy poses:

And we’re back on the road again!

Zion's Edge Cabin, St George, Utah

It was about another 6 hours before we finally made it to our destination in the evening: Zion’s Edge Cabin This awesome cabin sleeps 14-18. Between the 12 of us I think it ended up being about $50 a piece for 3 days. It was a great find nestled in the woods with plenty of privacy but still within a cabin community.
